Training, support and development standards

The Children's Workforce Development Council (CWDC), in consultation with foster carers and other members of the foster care workforce, has developed standards to support the training and development of foster carers in England.

The Training, Support and Development Standards for Foster Care were launched during Foster Care Fortnight, 14-27 May 2007.

Cheshire County Council has recently mapped the standards against both the Skills to Foster competencies and the relevant NVQ units. The document can be accessed through the CWDC website, which thanks Sue Betteridge (Foster Carer) and Helen Keaney-Cheetham for undertaking and sharing this piece of work.
