Leading Our Lives
Young people with experience of care leading an England-wide
participation project.
The Fostering Network has received Big Lottery funding to run a
new Project called Leading Our Lives. The project will enable
fostered children, care leavers and sons and daughters of foster
carers to have a genuine voice in their own future and in services
affecting them.
Over three years we will be:
- setting up participation groups for young people across
England
- establishing a database to show how young people are already
involved and what works well
- support organisations by helping them to get young people
involved more
- producing accessible information for young people
- giving young people training opportunities eg. fostering panel
training, train the trainers, media and consultation training
- recruiting a team of sessional workers with experience of
care
- enabling 90 young people to be part of regional forums.
Survey of participation services for fostered children, young
people and care leavers
We want to find out about the level of participation by young
people in fostering services and leaving care services.
Please take a moment to complete our short
questionnaire.
Please send completed questionnaires by email to piriya.jeganathan@fostering.net or by
post to Leading Our Lives Survey, 87 Blackfriars Road, London, SE1
8HA.
If you would like to get involved or find out more information
about our project please email Judy Walsh at judy.walsh@fostering.net or
phone 020 7620 6412.
Remember that all of our work will be lead by the decisions
made by the young people involved.
