Project aims

The young people's project aims to ensure that all young people involved in foster care receive the highest standards of care. We work with both young people in foster care and with the children of foster carers. The sons and daughters of foster carers play an important role within the fostering process and the project actively encourages their consultation and participation.

Project objectives

The project will meet its objectives by:

  • setting up young people's advisory groups
  • encouraging greater participation by young people in local authority consultation plans
  • providing advice and guidance about preparation for independent living, to young people, foster carers and social workers
  • providing training which allows young people represent their views at media events, conferences and other relevant fora.
