Education
Children in care often have very poor educational outcomes. In England last year, only 13.2% of looked after children received 5 A*-C GSCEs including Maths and English as opposed to 57.9% of all children, and in Scotland around 90% of looked after children left school when they were 16 or under with only 37% of all school leavers leaving at the same age.
Foster carers play an essential role in improving the educational outcomes of children and young people in foster care. See our full list of resources on education.
Members of the Fostering Network can register or log in for more information and resources on education, and access peer to peer support in our online community.
