Long-term foster care
There are many different types of foster care, ranging from emergency foster care where you may only care for a child for a night before a placement is found for them to long-term fostering where you will be caring for them until they move into independence.
Long-term fostering, also known as permanent fostering, brings its own challenges. We have produced a Signpost booklet that looks at many of the issues around long-term fostering including the legal options and the emotional impact of long-term fostering. We have also produced a further reading list to guide you to other publications and resources to ensure that you have all the information that you need.
Members of the Fostering Network log in here for more information and resources on long-term fostering, and access to peer to peer support in our online community.
