Professional development
As a foster carer, it is important to keep developing your skills whether it is to find out more about a topic that you are particularly interested in or if you want to take on a new type of fostering. In England, all foster carers are expected to complete the CWDC Training, Support and Development Standards for Foster Care within two years of being approved as a foster carer. Many foster carers undertake further education courses such as NVQs or those run through the Open University to continue to develop their skills as foster carers.
Members of the Fostering Network log in here for more information and resources on professional development, and access to peer to peer support in our online community.
