Family and friends foster care
The issues around Family and Friends foster care (also known as kinship care) mainly affect local authority fostering services. Currently there is an emphasis from governments across the UK for children to be cared for by family and friends where possible and this is reflected in the increasing number of family and friends foster care.
Not all family and friends carers are foster carers and it is important that fostering services are aware of the relevant legislation, guidance and regulations that affect family and friends care in their part of the UK.
We provide a range of resources and publications to help fostering services with the issues affecting family and friends foster care. Staff at organisations that are members of the Fostering Network should log in to access exclusive members-only resources.
