"Do you know who your children are?"- A new corporate parenting campaign

The Fostering Network has launched a major new campaign on corporate parenting that calls on local councillors to become more aware of their corporate parenting duties and to get to know the children and young people they are responsible for. Local councillors can make a major difference to the lives of children and young people in care by providing more resources and support for frontline professionals such as foster carers and social workers, ensuring children and young people in care are prioritized in council decision making, and by keeping an active interest in their wellbeing.

Foster Care Associations across England are sending a series of postcards to their local councillors calling on them as corporate parents to find out about the children and young people looked after by the council and to do more to help them. Versions of the cards are being distributed from our Cardiff and Glasgow offices for Scottish and Welsh councillors.

If you are a local councillor or would like to give information to a local councillor please download a copy of "Do you know who your children are? - A quick guide to being a good corporate parent for councillors".

Our pdf versions of our corporate parenting post cards are also available to download.
