This course aims to explore issues related to foster carers' financial rights and responsibilities. It covers topics such as fostering allowances and fee payments, National Insurance and pensions and benefits and tax credits.
Learning outcomes
This course will enable participants to:
- clarify what a fostering allowance is and what fee payments are and how they should be used
- identify a foster carer's responsibilities for paying income tax and National Insurance
- understand how fostering can affect state pension entitlement
- explain what insurance a foster carer should have
- explore the issues for foster carers who are receiving benefits and tax credits
- consider the financial implications for foster carers looking after young people 18yrs+
