Learning outcomes

This course will enable participants to:

  • clarify what a fostering allowance is and what fee payments are and how they should be used
  • identify a foster carer's responsibilities for paying income tax and National Insurance
  • understand how fostering can affect state pension entitlement
  • explain what insurance a foster carer should have
  • explore the issues for foster carers who are receiving benefits and tax credits
  • consider the financial implications for foster carers looking after young people 18yrs+
