Icing on the cake for Foster Care Fortnight
Thursday, 10 May, 2012
Lorraine Pascale, baker, author and television personality, is using her personal experience of foster care to help raise awareness of the need for more foster carers during Foster Care Fortnight 2012.
Running from 14-27 May, Foster Care Fortnight brings together fostering services from throughout the UK to recruit foster carers and raise the profile of fostering.
With a child coming into care and needing a foster carer every 22 minutes across the UK, the Fostering Network has this year launched the 22 Minutes campaign which will run throughout Foster Care Fortnight.
Lorraine has contributed a blog to the 22 Minutes webpage after seeing the Fostering Network’s #22minute campaign on Twitter.
Lorraine said of foster carers: “I have such admiration for those that foster and indeed take the steps toward fostering a child. There are so many incredible people out there who would make and do make incredible foster carers, and there are also many children out there who need those very people to be foster carers to them.”
Lorraine joins Samantha Morton, Gareth Gates, Jacqueline Wilson, Gabby Logan and Fern Britton in supporting the campaign.
You can find out more about becoming a foster carer and about the 22 Minutes campaign by visiting the 22 Minutes website or by contacting your local fostering service.
