Focus on Children in Care Councils
The need for local authorities to recognise the value of Children in Care Councils is the focus of a seminar today (26 February) in London.
The seminar, organised by the Fostering Network and the London Practitioners Forum, will bring together practitioners and managers from leaving care and child care teams and others working with young people to share practice and find out about developments locally and nationally in relation to Children in Care Councils in England.
Speakers will include Roger Morgan, children’s right director England, and Rebecca Palmer, strategic development officer for children and young people’s participation for the Greater London Authority.
Children in Care Councils are made up of children and young people in care within a local authority. They allow young people in care to have a say on issues that matter to them, and can make sure that their voices are heard by the people who make decisions.
