Exclusive home insurance deal for foster carers
Friday, 8 June, 2012
The Fostering Network has joined with Towergate Insurance to offer household insurance to member foster carers across the UK at a special discount rate.
The partnership will provide competitive and flexible household insurance specifically for foster carers, and it has been agreed that all members of the Fostering Network will receive a 10 per cent discount.
And, any policies taken out or any foster carers registering their interest during May and June, regardless of when that policy will come into effect (at the current policy renewal date) will also receive a price match guarantee from Towergate.
Key features include:
- Cover for any malicious damage or vandalism caused by a fostered child.
- Cover for theft or attempted theft by any fostered child.
- No need to contact Towergate each time you take in a new placement, as this won’t restrict or void the cover provided.
- Cover for all foster children’s possessions while they are in your care.
Of course with all insurance policies there will be standard exclusions and restrictions on the policy including a standard low level excess for most cover of just £100, malicious damage whilst the home is unoccupied for more than 30 days and any amount over the sums insured.
Gill Cronin, the Fostering Network’s head of marketing and membership, said: “Foster carers can encounter difficulties and exemptions when negotiating house insurance. So, by working closely with partner organisations such as Towergate we can secure useful and useable benefits for foster carers who sometimes get a raw deal when dealing with their finances.
“We believe that foster carers should not be disadvantaged for opening their homes and hearts to those children most in need of support in our society.”
Mark Dowden, Sales and Marketing Director of Towergate Caring Professions, said: “After researching the market extensively with the help of the Fostering Network and individual foster carers, we are delighted to launch this product.
“Our home insurance for foster carers provides the cover that carers need and our advisors (one of whom is a register foster carer themselves) are ready to discuss your individual requirements and provide you with an extremely competitive quote.
“Towergate Caring Professions Division is very excited to be working in partnership with the Fostering Network.”
