Foster carers urged to share views
Friday, 27 April, 2012
The Fostering Network is encouraging foster carers in England to share their views on the quality of care provided by their fostering service, via Ofsted’s online questionnaire.
The views of foster carers, children, families, placing social workers and independent reviewing officers are being sought by Ofsted as part of the inspection process for local authority fostering services and independent fostering providers.
The online questionnaire, available to individuals via their fostering services, can be completed between 1 April and 31 May 2012. There is also an audio option and a film clip using British sign-language, which can be used to support the children and young people’s questionnaire. Users can request versions that can be printed and completed by hand, and symbol versions.
Hazel Halle, director of membership support at the Fostering Network, said: “It is crucial that Ofsted hears from as many foster carers as possible in the carrying out of their inspections every year.
“Foster carers who have not yet been sent the link by their fostering service should talk to their supervising social worker.”
