Policy
Delivering public policy is the responsibility of governments, but it’s up to the Fostering Network and its members to help them so that legislation and regulations affecting fostered children are the best they can be, offering children and young people the best possible outcomes.
Have a look at the Fostering Network's recent responses to government consultations.
We are proud of the influence we have with national and local government. We are involved in shaping policy on every level – from concept to delivery.
How we get involved
We contribute to government consultations and parliamentary committees: engaging in debate, challenging policy-makers where necessary and proposing the best way forward.
We actively lobby key political figures like members of parliament and other groups, and we campaign on key issues.
We aim to influence:
- governments in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland
- Westminster, which is responsible for UK-wide policies like tax and welfare reforms
- local governments
- researchers
- thinktanks.
If we can carry weight with these individuals and organisations, then our members' voices will be heard UK-wide.
