Recruitment and Retention of Foster Carers in Scotland
Funded by the Scottish Government, this project aims to improve the life chances for children, young people and families at risk (National Outcome 8) by assisting in the recruitment and retention of more foster carers.
The project's next phase of work will build on the good practice already in place between fostering services by developing joint working and sharing of fostering resources between authorities, particularly in relation to the recruitment, assessment, training and support of foster carers.
The Fostering Network's panel members database allows individuals (care-experienced young people, foster carers and other professionals) to self-register their interest in sitting on fostering panels, and fostering services can find the right candidiates to sit on their fostering panel.
Regular events will enable fostering services across the country to discuss practice development and access these discussions through a digital update, highlighting the good practice already in place.
