The Fostering Network’s Foster Care Resource Centre is a unique resource dedicated to the subject of foster care in the UK. It provides a telephone and email information service, and access to details of around 5000 resources on all aspects of foster care.

The resource centre team consists of the information officer Lucy Morgan, an information assistant post (currently being advertised), and a small team of volunteers.

The enquiries answered by the information service range from prospective foster carers asking for information about foster care to requests for references on research topics such as the history of safer caring. We aim to answer all information requests within 10 days. The information service can be accessed in three ways. The information line is open between 12 – 3pm Wednesday to Friday every week on 020 7261 1884, you can email on info@fostering.net or fill in the online enquiry form.

The resource centre catalogue contains over 5000 items including books, videos, journals and websites. Where possible we provide links to material that is freely available online providing our users with a virtual library they can access wherever they are. This valuable resource can now be accessed by members via the Fostering Network website.

Members are welcome to visit the resource centre itself in our London office - please contact the information officer on info@fostering.net to make an appointment.

The Foster Care Resource Centre also produces a series of Key Resources in Foster Care, available to members of the Fostering Network. These are lists of recommended reading on a wide range of topics including Men in Foster Care, Using Technology Safely and Unaccompanied Asylum Seekers, and are produced on a regular basis.
