We have produced a list of key resources on this topic.
Managing behaviour is an important part of looking after
children. All looked after children will have undergone the
disturbance of living away from their parents and some others may
have experienced abuse which may affect their behaviour. Foster
carers may need some assistance in understanding why certain
behaviour occurs and how to deal with it in an appropriate way
without using corporal punishment or verbal abuse.

- Managing behaviour is an inevitable part of fostering. Every foster carer will, at some time, need to deal with behaviour that he or she finds challenging, although every family's definition of 'challenging' will differ. By understanding the causes of certain types of behaviour, foster carers will find it easier to develop strategies to address it.
