We have produced a list of key resources on this topic.

Fostered children and young people do not in general enjoy the same level of educational achievement as children who are not in care.

Increasingly it is being recognised that the public care system may itself be contributing to these poor outcomes.

The Fostering Network has produced a paper on the situation called Improving the Educational Achievements of Looked-After Children, and the Fostering Network Northern Ireland is co-implementing a pioneering government scheme called Fostering Achievement that is supporting foster carers to help fostered children achieve their potential.
