Independent advice for foster carers

A new advice line, launched in January 2007, is now giving foster carers access to confidential and impartial advice on all aspects of foster care, from leaving care provision to issues relating to legislation or finance.
After a dedicated campaign supported by many of our colleagues working in foster care, the Fostering Network has been awarded a grant from the Welsh Assembly Government to provide the bilingual advice line to all those involved in foster care in Wales.
Sian Edwards, a foster carer in Wales, welcomes the new advice line:
"It sounds like it will be a fantastic source of information for foster carers. Fostering has many joys, but like any job, it can also be quite demanding and at times you need support.
"It is reassuring to know that quick access to advice and guidance from people who understand what we are going through [is] only a phone call away."
