Inca-hoots

Pacchu PicchuWe are delighted to announce the Fostering Network's first fundraising trek to the legendary Lost City of the Incas, Machu Picchu.

With time built in to acclimatise to altitude, you will be able to stop and explore fascinating Inca temples and settlements along the way such as ancient Cusco, the capital of the Inca Empire. The trek then guides you through lush forest, green valleys and high passes with breathtaking views of snow-capped Andean peaks.

The trek takes place from 3-12 October 2008 and between now and then we will be working with Discover Adventure to ensure that participants are fully supported in their fundraising efforts. We are looking for between 10 and 15 people, so if you’ve always fancied seeing this wonderful part of the world, book your place now.

Sons and daughters handbook

Thanks to a generous grant from the Mercers' Company, the Fostering Network is to publish a handbook for the sons and daughters of foster carers.

The sons and daughters of foster carers have a crucial role within the fostering team which is frequently overlooked. They often express feelings of being forgotten within the system and tell us that they do not receive the support they need.

The guide will introduce them to what foster care means, explain some of the key issues involved and explore some of the feelings they are likely to experience.
