About this course
Aim
- To introduce prospective Support Carers to the key issues
related to providing Support Care for children and young
people
Objectives
- Clarify the Support Care role and process of approval
- Think about the kind of children and young people who will need
Support Care and how to meet their needs
- Look at ways of working with families (parents and carers)
using the Support Care service
- Identify the roles and responsibilities of the various
professionals involved in Support Care
- Explore ways to make the home a protective environment for the
child receiving Support Care and the carer's own family
- Think about the various contexts for behaviour such as child
development, relationships within the family, poverty and
deprivation
- Look at ways to manage issues of placement "boundaries" and
"endings"
