Hello! First things first, let me introduce myself – My name is Lorna Patterson and I am the new Fundraising and Events Coordinator for the Fostering Network Northern Ireland. I am looking forward to this new challenge and to meeting the supporters of the charity. I hope to bring many exciting events and opportunities to the charity and help to raise vital funds for the Fostering Network and their services.

2009 is already jammed packed with events for you to take part in to support your local fostering charity. Why not make a difference and support the Fostering Network today!

The Fostering Network "Saints and Scholars Ball"

What promises to be a magical evening with fabulous food and elegant entertainment, the Fostering Network presents their Annual Ball – "Saints and Scholars at Queens". As part of our annual Foster Care Fortnight Campaign to recruit new carers, we are hosting a large Charity Ball at the Whitla hall at Queens University, Belfast. Everyone is welcome for a night of historical culture, fabulous food, casino entertainment and dance the night away to the sound of the Blues.

Tickets can be purchased at £65 or a table at £600.

Superhero Sky Dive

Be a Superhero for a Super Cause! Take up the challenge and participate in a tandem skydive for your local fostering charity?

Tandem is arguably the best way to experience your first freefall! After 30 minutes of instruction you will be securely harnessed directly to the front of an experienced tandem instructor wearing parachute equipment built for two. Together you leave the aircraft at 13,000 feet and freefall to 5,000 feet in approximately 45 seconds and then join in the control of the parachute for a 4-5 minute canopy ride.

Belfast City Marathon
[Monday 4 May 2009]

Start the New Year off with a challenge. Get the running gear on and run for the Fostering Network Northern Ireland. Over 15,000 runners are expected to take to the streets of North, South, East and West of the City. You can choose to participate in the following way:

Marathon Run £30
Team Relay £70
Fun Run £10 Adult £8 OAP and Under 18
Marathon Walk £20
Wheelchair Marathon £30

We will register on your behalf, all you have to do is get in contact with Lorna and we will provide you with a t-shirt, sponsorship forms and tons of fundraising ideas.

The money raised through sponsorship is invested in providing independent advice, support and training to foster carers and their families who are mainly volunteers within Northern Ireland.

FUN DAYS – Free Admission

A Fun Day will be taking place in your area and the whole family is invited.

• Activities – Rocket Workshop (weather permitting) and Show!

Fun Day

• Where – Craigavon Civic Centre
• When – Saturday 24 January 2009
• Time – 11am – 2pm
• Activities – Carnival Mask Workshop and Hip Hop Dance Class!

Fun Day

• Where – Bagenal’s Castle, Newry
• When – Saturday 31 January 2009
• Time – 11am – 2pm
• Activities - Carnival Mask Workshop and Hip Hop Dance Class!

More Fun Days and fundraising events will be arranged throughout the year including another Abseil!
