The UK National Standards for Foster Care and the Code of Practice recommend that fostering services make explicit the skills and competencies required by carers. Section 3.2 of the Code of Practice also states that:
"Whoever is responsible for, or involved in, the assessment should have received training on the assessment process"
This course will help fostering services implement the competency-based approach to assessing foster carers, and firmly places the process within a framework of equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice.
The cost of this course includes a complete pack of the Fostering Network’s competency-based Assessment materials.
The course links up to units HSC31, HSC33 and HSC36 of the NVQ Health and Social Care Level 3 ‘Caring for Children and Young People’ and units D and E of the National Occupational Standards for Child Care at post qualifying level.
