“I am going to review my supervision of carers based on this course and make necessary changes”
This course explores the implications of the role of the supervising social worker, addresses legal and statutory requirements, and identifies ways of providing leadership and creating a good working relationship with carers.
This expert seminar, delivered by Kate Cairns, has been described as an “eye-opener” and address the often overlooked needs of those looking after vulnerable children – as foster carers, teachers or social workers.
"It has given me a more positive view of men in foster care"
The role of men in foster care and residential childcare work has been the subject of increased debate. There is concern about how best to work with children who have been sexually abused, worries about abuse by carers, and unsubstantiated allegations of abuse. This course is for male foster carers, male supervising social workers and male residential social workers. It is for men and is facilitated by male trainers.
"Fantastic - focused, structured, open style, good examples, feedback and evaluation"
On this course, each participant will receive, and work with, their own copy of the Fostering Network’s The Skills to Foster Leaders Guide, Workbook, and a copy of Foster Families magazine. The Skills to Foster is used throughout the country and is seen as the leading pre-approval training course for prospective foster carers. It is an essential resource for anyone involved in preparing new applicants for the challenges of fostering. These course resources are included in the cost of the course.
