6 February 2008, London (1 day course)

£125 + VAT

This course is for:

  • approved foster carers who have experience of at least one placement and a basic understanding of issues such as abuse, managing behaviour and contact

About this course

The course is presented from the perspective of foster carers and the impact of allegations on them. This course aims to enable participants to develop their understanding about allegations of abuse against foster carers, and the procedures for managing these allegations. Participants will consider information about the fostering service’s procedure for dealing with allegations and serious concerns. Case histories and filmed material will be used to help participants to apply their understanding and experience, and as a basis for discussion.

This course will enable participants to:

  • to inform foster carers about the process for managing allegations and serious concerns about foster carers’ practice/standards of care
  • to develop foster carers’ understanding about the help and support that should be available to them
  • to increase foster carers awareness of approaches to minimising the risk of allegations and strategies for coping if they occur.
