About this course

This course aims to enable social workers in family placement teams to develop their skills as supervisory managers, balancing their prime responsibility to the child in placement with the tasks of supporting and developing foster carers.

This course will:

  • focus on aspects of the supervisory process
  • enable participants to explore the implications of their management role within an anti-discriminatory framework
  • clarify their responsibilities for allocating work, monitoring and reviewing performance, and developing carers
  • consider ways of promoting good practice and challenging bad practice
