  • Children's services managers
  • Children's social workers
  • Leaving care workers
  • Youth workers
  • Residential child care workers
  • Children and young people (sons and daughters of foster carers)

and anyone else who is involved in achieving better outcomes for looked after children and young people.

Working together - training together

We strongly recommend that fostering services/agency staff and foster carers train together, to increase their understanding of each other's roles and responsibilities, and to help develop effective ways of working collaboratively.

However, there are occasions when it is more beneficial for one group to train separately. For example, male participants of our course, Men in Foster Care , may explore certain issues more easily in the absence of female colleagues.
