5 March 2009, Baltic House, Cardiff Bay
£82 + VAT for members.
This course is for:
- staff from local authorities and independent fostering
providers
- foster carers.
About this course
Foster carers have enough to do without worrying about income
tax, pensions and benefits. But it is vital for foster carers to
know exactly what their own financial responsibilities are and what
their agency is responsible for. This training day will explore
foster carers' financial rights and responsibilities.
This course will enable participants to:
- clarify a foster carer’s responsibilities for paying income
tax
- explore the issues for foster carers who are also receiving
benefits and explain the benefits that others may be able to
claim
- identify a foster carer’s rights and responsibilities in
relation to the state pension
- explore the options and related issues when young people aged
16+ remain in the foster home
- signpost participants to information on other financial issues
relevant to foster carers.
This course contributes to the underpinning knowledge
requirements for:
- NVQ Health and Social Care Level 3, Children and Young People
units: HSC33 & HSC345
- post Qualifying Award in Child Care unit E.
