About this course

This one-day course has been designed by ROSPA specifically for foster carers. Participants will be provided with information on the type of accidents affecting children in Wales and who is most at risk. They will also look at how and why accidents happen and effective preventative measures for the most common and most serious accidents such as falls, burns, scalds and poisoning.

This course will enable participants to:

  • provide a picture of the home accident problem in Wales
  • identify some of the influencing factors of home accidents
  • allow a greater understanding of home incidents in relation to age and stage of development
  • explore why and how accidents happen
  • identify preventative measures that can be put in place
  • provide an understanding of the risk assessment process.

This course contributes to the underpinning knowledge for:

  • NVQ Level 3 units: 32, 33, 34, 317
  • PQ units: B, D & E.
