Ena Fry, the Fostering Network’s development worker for children and young people for 17 years until her retirement in 2007, has been awarded an MBE for services to children in care in the Queen’s birthday honours list.

- Foster Care Fortnight 2008: UK needs thousands more foster carers this year alone
More than 5,000 new foster carers must be recruited across the UK during the next year alone in order to provide more children in care with the homes they need, the Fostering Network warned today (12 May).

A UK-wide recruitment campaign to encourage more people to consider whether they have the qualities needed to foster is being launched by the Fostering Network on Monday 12 May, to coincide with the start of Foster Care Fortnight (12–25 May).

- Campaign success for the Fostering Network
The Fostering Network is celebrating campaign success after the Government amended the Children and Young Persons Bill so as to place a duty on local authorities in England and Wales to provide sufficient and diverse foster placements within their local area.
