Join us in lobbying Parliament for the second reading of the Children and Young Persons Bill

28 February 2008

Photo of WestminsterThe Fostering Network is campaigning on the Children and Young Persons Bill to ensure that young people can stay with their (former) foster carers between the ages of 18 and 21. We are also aiming for more support during allegations, the delegation of everyday responsibilities to foster carers and the ability for foster carers to register with the General Social Care Council.

However, Government delays in the House of Lords mean that our lobby of Parliament is now not likely to take place until late April or early May.

The Children and Young Persons bill has been subject to repeated delays in the House of Lords and the Fostering Network learned yesterday that there will be a further delay to the "report stage" in the Lords, which means that the bill is not likely to have its second reading in the House of Commons until after Parliament returns from its 3 April – 21 April recess.

We will keep you informed with updates on our Lobby of Parliament web page where you can find out the plan of action and how to get involved!
